Morethan Lunch Buffet at THE KNOT Tokyo Shinjuku – Tried the Walk-in Seats!

all you can eat

Hello, this is Aya from Aya’s Food Adventures. Today I’m introducing one of the most popular buffets in Tokyo – the Morethan Lunch Buffet at THE KNOT Tokyo Shinjuku. This buffet is so popular that reservations are often fully booked two months in advance. But here’s the secret: they also offer walk-in seats!

I went to try it myself without a reservation, lined up for a walk-in slot, and here’s my full experience and why this buffet is worth the hype.

Basic Information – Morethan Lunch Buffet

Location: THE KNOT Tokyo Shinjuku (Morethan Tapas Lounge)

Price: Weekdays ¥3,500 / Weekends & Holidays ¥4,000 (tax included)

Time: 11:00 AM – 3:15 PM (2-hour system)

Reservation: Required, but a limited number of walk-in seats are available (11:00 AM & 1:00 PM entry).

I lined up at 10:18 AM and was the 5th in line. That got me into the 1:00 PM walk-in slot. If you want the later seating, arriving around 11:50 AM should be good enough.

Why It’s So Popular – 5 Reasons

1.High-Quality Dishes

The buffet offers seasonal main dishes and refined appetizers:

  • Roast Chicken – juicy meat with crispy skin
  • Polpettini with Tomato Sauce – the perfect balance of tomato acidity and savory meatballs
  • Porcini Mushroom Ravioli – chewy pasta with rich creamy sauce
  • Grilled Vegetables with Bagna Cauda Sauce – sweet roasted veggies with mellow dip

Appetizers include oeuf mayo, sea bream carpaccio with yuzu dressing, spinach & bacon quiche, and more. Everything tastes like it came from a full-service restaurant.

2.Tea Service by Staff

A rare feature for a buffet: staff come to your table and pour three kinds of tea. One of them, “Pine Shower” (pineapple & mango), felt like a mini afternoon tea experience.

3.Unlimited Bakery Bread

The hotel’s own Morethan Bakery supplies all the bread – freshly baked and unlimited!

  • Chocolate Banana Bagel Sandwich
  • Salmon & Cream Cheese Sandwich
  • Focaccia Sandwich with Ham & Cheese
  • Seaweed Rustic Bread
  • Mini Croissants (crispy and buttery!)

This bakery is famous in Shinjuku, so being able to sample so many varieties is a huge treat.

4.Honey Service

You can enjoy honey with tea or bread. They also provide condiments like honey mustard dressing, balsamic vinegar, and Grana Padano cheese so you can create your own flavor combinations.

5.A Wide Range of Desserts

The dessert corner is just as impressive:

  • Melon Trifle with sponge and cream
  • Blueberry Cheesecake (my favorite!)
  • Passionfruit Chocolate Cake (sweet and tangy)
  • Yogurt Jelly with Mango Sauce
  • French Toast and more

Light, refreshing items balance out the richer cakes, making it easy to keep tasting until the end of your 2-hour session.

Tips for Walk-in Seats

  • For 11:00 AM entry: Line up around 10:00 AM
  • For 1:00 PM entry: Line up around 11:50 AM
  • Walk-in seats are usually high tables near the entrance or terrace seats

If you can’t get a reservation online, this system gives you a second chance to enjoy the buffet.

Final Thoughts

The Morethan Lunch Buffet at THE KNOT Tokyo Shinjuku is one of the best-value buffets in Shinjuku. With restaurant-quality mains, unlimited bakery bread, attentive tea service, and a full dessert spread, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.

Even if reservations are fully booked, don’t give up – try the walk-in seats and you’ll still get the full experience.
