Hello everyone, this is Aya!
This time I visited the popular restaurant “Compass” on the 2nd floor of the Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers, located right outside the West Exit of Yokohama Station, The new Compass is an elegant space that makes you feel as if you have wandered into a “Western-style house in the Yamanote district of Yokohama.

The newly renovated “Compass” is currently holding a “Hokkaido Gourmet Fair!
The dinner buffet (9,000 yen per person) allows you to enjoy the seasonal delicacies of Hokkaido to your heart’s content. What’s more, unlimited hours are available on weekdays! The excitement of the sumptuous lineup is unbearable.

The latest style! Hybrid buffet of order-style and self-service
The buffet at “Compass” starts when you are seated and guided by a staff member.
First, order your favorite dishes from your smartphone by scanning the QR code. Foreign language displays are also supported, making it a great choice for inbound customers. After ordering, freshly prepared dishes are brought to your seat.
In addition, there is a self-serve buffet table where you can pick up salads, desserts, breads, drinks, and other items yourself, making this an all-you-can-eat restaurant with a new sensation!

Hokkaido’s seafood and mountain delicacies are all here!
First, hors d’oeuvres: marinated cherry salmon, Hokkaido Wagyu Beef Tataki, Carpaccio of Mizudako… All of them are made from the best ingredients. The quality of the ingredients shines through in each dish, and the appetizers are overflowing with gorgeousness.
The snow crab I ordered was eaten with a lot of crab vinegar. Sushi such as tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and konbu-jime (kelp-jime of cod) can be ordered one by one. The sweetness of the shrimp was especially impressive!
The highlight of the meal is the live kitchen’s roast beef, buttered scallops, and freshly fried tempura! The roast beef is moist and tender, and the scallops are perfectly matched with lemon soy sauce. The tempura includes shrimp, turnip, corn, codfish, mozzarella, and a variety of other freshly fried delicacies.

Local cuisine of Hokkaido also makes an appearance!
Next, Hakodate Onuma Beef Ishiyaki Steak. The meat is juicy and melts in your mouth with the perfect amount of heat.
Ikura rice bowl, cold flan with sea urchin, stewed pork cubes, miso soup with Hanasaki crab… all of them are carefully prepared, and you will not be able to stop feeling luxurious.
And I personally recommend the “soup curry”. It is a Sapporo specialty, a thick soup with a hint of spice and beef ribs, and goes great with freshly cooked rice!

Dessert is a festival of sweets filled with the bounties of Hokkaido!
The dessert corner at Compass is not to be missed!
A variety of sweets unique to Hokkaido are available. Among them, the “Shimaenaga Cheesecake” is too cute to eat. The soft and fluffy texture and gentle cheese flavor are superb.
In addition, there are many elegant sweets with moderate sweetness, such as “Hokkaido Farm Pudding,” “Yubari Melon Gelato,” “Haskap Almond jelly,” “Apple Pie,” and “Shimaenaga Daifuku,” which are perfect for the end of the buffet.
The waffle and crepe corner is also well-stocked, and you can enjoy toppings by yourself!
Unlimited Time to Eat Up Hokkaido Happiness
I was very satisfied with this dinner buffet in terms of the quality of the food, the number of items, and the atmosphere. In particular, each dish on the menu, which focuses on Hokkaido ingredients, was deeply flavored and delicious in every way.
In addition to the easy access from Yokohama Station, the beauty of the renovated space is also worth mentioning. There are also round tables, making it easy for groups to enjoy themselves.
